Who we are

At Tableo, we’re not just building restaurant software, we’re creating tools that help restaurateurs run their businesses like magic. No complicated systems, no fluff, just a powerful simple tool that actually delivers what it promises. Our mission is to make your life easier and your restaurant a better place to be.

How it all started

It all began when Ben and Jon went to the Web Summit in Dublin as they were nominated for the Alpha Startup Award for a project they worked on together. They hit it off over beers and a shared love of David Bowie, quickly realising they had the same values and a strong potential to work together.

The big idea? Create a platform to help people plan their weddings in Malta (Jon was getting hitched). Steve was brought on as a partner and investor to the duo, and the journey began. They hit the road, sold the concept and by year one, Get Hitched had 200+ suppliers, hundreds of users and thousands of leads.

From weddings to events… to Covid19

As the business grew, they pivoted the concept to corporate and private events with Evently. But then COVID-19 hit. Weddings and events were cancelled, and their entire business shut down. But instead of giving up, they developed a restaurant discovery and booking platform for Malta, validating it with restaurant owners during the lockdown. The world was paused, but they knew this was the time to build for the future.

In just four months, they launched Bookia, and while the start was tough, they pushed through. But then, another lockdown. Zero leads. Zero bookings. Zero revenue. It felt like they were back at square one. But as the saying goes: “If you’re going through hell, keep going.” And they did. Bookia started to gain traction and was a major influence, helping local restaurants bounce back after the pandemic.

The birth of Tableo

By this time, restaurants in Malta had started approaching them, asking for a new platform to handle reservations and manage tables. So, they built it. Tableo was officially launched in April 2021. The response? Immediate love. Not long after, Tableo became the first Maltese company to partner with Reserve with Google.

Today, Tableo supports thousands of restaurants across 80 countries and a team spanning 15 nationalities. But at our core, we’re still the same people with the same mindset. We wouldn’t be where we are without the restaurateurs who helped us grow. That’s why we’ll always be here for our clients.
