Restaurant reservation API: what you can build with Tableo
Tableo’s Public API lets you connect live availability, bookings, guest profiles and booking statistics with the other systems your restaurant runs. It also sends notifications when a booking changes, so those systems can respond to new reservations, cancellations and guest arrivals.
Your team might take reservations by phone, manage service in a POS and prepare reports in a separate reporting tool. Your team shouldn’t need to type the same booking or guest note twice. Connecting those tools lets you take a booking without re-entering it, show guest details where staff need them or prepare figures for your next management meeting.
Ideas for what you can build
There are many possible uses. These seven ideas show the range, from guest-facing services to tools for the people running your restaurant.
- Take reservations through Voice AI: Connect a voice service to check live availability and create reservations in Tableo while guests call, including when the host is busy seating dinner arrivals. The booking goes into your restaurant’s diary, rather than becoming a message someone needs to enter later.
- Offer lunch alongside a lido or hotel booking: Combine availability from your external accommodation or deckchair system with restaurant availability in Tableo, then offer a lunch reservation as part of that experience. Guests can plan more of their visit together, and your team receives the restaurant booking in Tableo.
- Connect a POS we don’t integrate with yet: Bring reservation times, party sizes, assigned tables and booking notes into your POS, with an arrivals view for the host team. Staff can check guests in from the connected screen and update the corresponding booking in Tableo.
- Create reports for your management or marketing team: Use daily, weekly or monthly booking statistics to prepare reports with bookings, covers, cancellations and no-shows. Compare covers and no-shows across recent months, alongside figures from your other systems, to help decide where to focus your restaurant’s marketing.
- Bring guest context into another staff system: Show guest tags, comments and booking history alongside a reservation in the tool your team uses during service.
- Keep a kitchen service list updated: Use booking notifications to refresh a connected service list when reservations change or guests are seated, so the kitchen sees how many covers to expect for the next sitting.
- Read guest feedback alongside booking results: Bring feedback collected after guests’ visits in Tableo into your reporting tool, alongside booking and covers figures.
Start with what’s already built in
Tableo already offers a customisable booking form for the website, an AI agent tool and a range of POS integrations, so what you have in mind may be possible without a custom API connection.
Contact our team and tell us what you’d like to achieve and which systems you use. We’ll help you work out whether an existing feature or a custom connection is the right fit.
Frequently asked questions
Which Tableo plans include API access?
API access is included with Expand and available as a €19.99 per month add-on on Grow. It isn’t included with Freemium or Organise. You can compare the plans on our pricing page.
Do I need a developer?
Yes, you’ll need a developer or an external service provider who can build and maintain the connection. They handle how the two systems exchange information and how staff or guests use it. Our Public API documentation gives them the technical details to get started.
Is the API secure?
Tableo uses restaurant-scoped tokens, keeping access tied to your restaurant’s data. Optional IP restrictions let you limit where requests come from, and signed booking notifications allow the receiving system to verify they came from Tableo. Choose someone you trust to handle your restaurant and guest information, and have a data processing agreement with whoever builds the connection.
